NESU-Waasa
NESU aka NORDISKA EKONOMIE STUDERANDES UNION
is a Nordic association of economists whose purpose is to bring together economists from all over Finland and the Nordic countries.
Originally NESU originated in Sweden, from where it came to Finland via Vaasa. Vaasa proudly carries the honour and tradition of being the oldest NESU city in Finland. In Finland, NESU can be found not only in Vaasa, but in all the other towns and cities.
NESU-Waasa is part of Warrantti. Its main task is to organise most of Warrantti’s academic table parties, i.e. parties with a different theme, where people sing, drink schnapps, eat and, best of all, enjoy good company. The most memorable are often the legendary and hugely popular NESU-Waasa training Sitz, where new freshmen are introduced to the culture of Sitz. In addition to organising the sitz, NESU-Waasa also organises other activities, such as learning about the traditional Finnish-Swedish game CAPS.
NESU-Waasa makes it possible to visit other cities’ sitz parties as an out-of-town guest. In the same way, students from other cities also visit Vaasa. In addition, NESU offers the opportunity to participate in a twice a year organised week-long seminar, a compact package of workshops and fun.
The NESU-Waasa board consists of six people: a chairman, a treasurer, a communication manager, a sitz manager, a corporate relations manager and a secretary. They are responsible for the day-to-day running of NESU-Waasa. The NESU-Waasa Board (excluding the chairman) is elected every autumn in a board election.
In short, NESU brings together the best of student life: fellow students, business cooperation, networking and fun.
There is no need to join NESU, every member of Warrantti is welcome to attend events organised by NESU.
